SHANGHAIED IN ASTORIA 2007-2008 REMODEL

Thank You ASOC Volunteers!

The remodeling has begun for the Astor Street Opry Co. new theater home. Volunteer troops gathered this to begin the hard task of making over the old Roy’s Maytag Building W. Bond Street, into the new home for Shanghaied In Astoria.

Pictured left to right: Richard Balkins, Mike Murray, Jon Lingel, Michael Wangen, LaMar Blackner, Lawrence MacDonald, Paul Costello, Braden Ruiz, Kerry Hilton, Stephann Costello, Mike & Lorene Sully, Paula Fisher. Also on hand to assist in the tear out was Brady from Brady’s Plumbing, Doug from Clatsop Electric, Dr. Del Corbett, Rob Allen and Al Mauro. Another clean up party will be held next Saturday beginning at 11am and running to 5pm and the ASOC is putting out the call to all community members for donations of time and services to help transform the 1940’s building into a working theater and to make the dream of a home for Shanghaied a reality. If you have skills, energy, or building materials you would like to donate to this worthy effort, please call 503-325-6104.

How else can you help? A memorial building fund for ASOC future home is set up at The Bank of Astoria named after Bar Pilot and original “Shanghaied Master of Ceremonies” Captain Paul Andrew Jackson. Or you can send a check to ASOC P.O. Box 743 Astoria OR 97103. All donations to this fund are tax deductible.
